Write a 3-step cold email sequence with Claude

You just joined a 4-person sales team at an early-stage startup. You have 50 prospects and zero email copy. Write a sequence that actually gets replies.

The scenario

Picture this at work

The brief

  • Company: Stacklane, a tool that turns customer support transcripts into product insights.
  • Persona: Head of Customer Experience at a 50–500 person SaaS company.
  • Pain you're selling against: "we have hundreds of support tickets a week and zero idea what they're telling us about the product."
  • Tone: human, low-pressure, specific. No "I hope this email finds you well."
  • 3 emails total: cold intro (Day 1), value follow-up with a 1-paragraph insight (Day 4), break-up email (Day 9).
  • Deliverable

    What counts as success

Three emails pasted as plain text. Each email must include:

  • a subject line under 6 words,

  • the body (under 120 words for emails 1 and 3, under 160 words for email 2),

  • a single, specific call to action.
  • How to do it

    Recommended tools and flow

Recommended tools: Claude (Sonnet or Opus), ChatGPT, or Gemini.

    Suggested flow
    1. Give the AI the persona, the pain, and 2–3 real examples of cold emails you actually liked. This is the single biggest lever.
    2. Ask it to draft all 3 emails together so the sequence feels coherent.
    3. Read each one out loud — if it sounds like a brochure, ask the model to rewrite it "like a friend who happens to sell this thing."
    4. Tighten subject lines manually. Subject lines are where AI is weakest.
    5. Paste the final 3 emails into the submission below.
