Privacy Policy

AfterWork Bytes is operated by AfterWork Startup ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our website, web application, or mobile apps (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address, password (stored securely, hashed, via our authentication provider — we never see or store your plaintext password), display name, and country. Country is used to show relevant local jobs and to display a flag next to your name on the leaderboard.

Usage & progress data. We store the tutorials you complete, quests you submit, jobs you save, XP, level, and streak data, and any professional-interest tags you select — all used to personalize what content we show you and to power gamification features (XP, badges, streaks).

Quest submissions. If you submit a quest, we store the link, text, image, or video you provide as part of that submission.

Payment information. If you purchase Lifetime Premium, payment is processed on the web by Stripe as a one-time payment. We do not store your card details — Stripe handles that directly and shares with us only what's needed to record your access tier (e.g., that you're a paying customer). The mobile app does not process payments.

Usage analytics. We use PostHog and Vercel Analytics to understand how people use the Service — which pages are visited, which features are used, and general performance metrics. We also run Google Ads conversion tracking to measure the effectiveness of our ads. These tools may use cookies or similar technologies on the web version of the Service.

2. How we use your information

• To provide, operate, and maintain the Service
• To personalize content — recommended tutorials, jobs, and quests based on your interests and activity
• To track your XP, streaks, level, and completions
• To process payments and manage your access tier
• To send you product updates or a periodic digest email, if you've opted in (sent via SendFox) — you can unsubscribe at any time
• To respond to support requests you send us
• To improve the Service based on aggregate usage patterns

3. How we store and protect your data

Your account and content data is stored with Supabase, our database and authentication provider, which encrypts data in transit and at rest. Access to your data is restricted so that only you (and, where necessary, our support team responding to a request you've made) can read it.

On mobile, some preferences (like language, and interests you selected before creating an account) may be stored locally on your device and are not shared with anyone until you sign in, at which point they're merged into your account.

4. Third parties we share data with

We don't sell your personal data. We share data only with the service providers that help us run AfterWork Bytes:

• Supabase — database, authentication, file storage
• Stripe — payment processing for Premium subscriptions
• PostHog & Vercel Analytics — product usage analytics
• Google Ads — conversion tracking for our ad campaigns
• SendFox— sending our email newsletter/digest, if you're subscribed

5. Your rights and choices

You can access, update, or delete most of your profile information directly in the app (Account / Profile). To request a full export or deletion of your account and associated data, email us at morning@afterworkstartup.com or use the Support form in the app, and we'll action it.

6. Children's privacy

AfterWork Bytes is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. If changes are significant, we'll let you know via the app or email.
